blown head gasket
blown head gasket i was wondering if anybody could tell me what a car would run like if it has a blown head gasket, like will it idle funny, or die or what ever else it would do, so if u guys could help me out i would appreciate it, what would the symptoms be of a blown head gasket.
If your head gasket is bad, the car will run hot. What problems are you experiencing right now? Sounds like you have other problems than a head gasket but we need more info.
If it is not overheating, its most likely not a bad head gasket. An irratic idle could be anything from a vacuum leak to an ignition problem. Is your SES (Service Engine Soon) light illuminated? If so, you can take it to any Autozone to get the codes scanned if you don't have a scanner yourself.
its not overheating, but i had my mechanic hook his computer up to it and he said it wasnt throwing any codes. so he was stumped to. he said that he checked t like three times and for sure he said it has a blown headgasket. the weird thing was that there wasnt any smoke coming out of the tailpipe, and the oil wasnt milky when we changed it so beats me.

There is a kit you can buy that has a dye in it, now you hook the piece up on to the radiator fill cap and suction some of the fluid out. The dye is blue and when it mixes I blelieve it turns a colors from blue (the color of the dye) to another color( I forget the color) but anything other than blue you got problems. Sorry to be vague but the tool cost 60 $$ we got ours from Snap-On guy but you may be able to get it from an auto parts store. Good Luck !!!!!
