Default Need advice on cam's

g'day guys

hope everyone is well. Iv got a 95 firebird with the lt1 350 and im wanting to get a cam fitted to the engine. However, I have no idea what type of cam would be best for my type of motor? Does anyone know of a good, suitable cam to suit the lt1? The engine is basically stock besides some minor conversion changes. If anyone could give me some advice on choosing the right cam, installation and prices etc that would be greatly appreciated. Im an Aussie so if you can post up some links to websites where you can purchase cam's, that would be great. Thanks for your time

cheers, Tony

Too many variables you must state like: how important is idle quality to you? Is emissions an issue where you live? what type of transmission? and how high stall?
Comp cams has a few popular of the shelf cam such as the magnum series 304, 305, 306 as well as the EX series 502 & 503.
Crane cams with the 227, and GM 845, 856 & 847 which are actually made by crane and there's also the hotcam.
Checkout the sponsors, thunderracing, combination and others can set you up.

Yeah, we need more info, there are lots of cams to choose from.

What are your goals w/ the car? Daily driver or weekend warrior? What other mods? What's your tolerance for driveability issues?

I think XE 218/224 is a good "basic" cam for a relatively un-modded daily driver looking for a little more oomph.

Are any other mods done to the car? If not, you may want to look into doing headers, exhaust, intake, if it's a 6 speed a 12 bolt probably wouldn't hurt either. All these things will make the cam a bit more effective.

Or, if you don't wanna do a whole lot to it, there is always the LT4 hotcam, too.

Yep, the hotcam is a great option for cars that are driven a lot, and occasionaly on the strip. Plus the whole package is like under $600 bucks, and ready to go. Post some more information, and you will get some good suggestions on a cam to run. You might Also want to look at a Heads/Cam package from eportworks.com They make one of the best packages for LT1's and are priced very low. It all depends on your goals, good luck.
