How hard was h/c?
I know you can do a H/C swap with the engine in the car, but I prefer to do it with the engine removed. That was probably the hardest part: the removal and reinstallation of the engine.
The main thing is to stay organized and you will not have any problems.

If you take your time and do it right you shouldnt have many problems. Like everyone said keep it clean, label every connection when you take it off, put all the bolts in ziploc bags and label them, take dig pics before you start also. Go ahead and start searching for any walkthroughs you can use. Its well worth the effort, i just posted up a video of my car.

Its not bad. Ive done it a number of times on various LT1's and even a LS1 or two....always with the motor in the car. [broken record] Stay neat and organized and youll be fine [/broken record]. The hardest part, youve already got taken care of. The springs are just about the biggest PITA, especially big doubles, which is why I now own the Crane/Vinci compressor....much like 97LT1.

The exhaust if you have headers! I think its easier to drop the engine if you have access to a lift. I can drop the the eng. and trans in about 2 hours taking my time. Its just less headache IMO

Well I did my first one about a year back and the only experience I had prior to that was on a sb mopar in my 1970 Dodge Dart. It's really easy to do, except for the springs. I ended up pulling them because I wanted to replace the head gaskets anyways. It took us about a week of working on it a few hours a day after work. I could do it now in a weekend though. Tell you the truth, the hardest part for me was getting the damn crank hub off because I didn't have the right tool, and noone locally knew what the hell to recommend. Thank God for LS1 tech......
Ls1x2 is a friend of mine, he helped with the h/c swap, we ran in to issues with parts more then any thing. That alone cost us time and why we couldn't finish it the first time around. We did the swap back in March and I have most the car sorted out and it starts, runs and drives. Has a few more little things left to do and we'll take it to the track. LS1X2 needs to change his name to LT1X2 since he owned two Camaros, one a B4C the other a 30th, both 355s, both white (racist), both six speeds and both on nitrous. Just need our other buddy Jon to requote Joe saying these LS1s arent ****.

You shouldn't need to drop the motor. It's not worth the extra work in my opinion (unless you need to drop the kmember/motor for another reason). I did heads/cam in my car and it was simple. If I can do it, anyone can
