Default Broken battery mount

I am just wondering how many people have broken battery mounts. I know of the 3 camaros i have been under the hood all three of them have a broken mount. Also, when i went to the junk yard to get a new one, that was broken too. 2 of us bolted a strip of metal over them while the other one just strapped it down so we can all race. It has been fixed for a very long time, but this suddenly popped into my head and i feel like making a thread for it.

i never ran a hold down, im running a optima and it's so big the ac line hold it down, and in order to install it, the battery has to go in sidways and i still pass tech inspections at the track.

the tech that passes that should not if its a nhra track. you cant even have a hold down that has j hooks in it. if you go to a strict track where they actually look and care it wont pass.

Mines broken too, but the track I usually go to sucks, and they don't care if you mounted it to the roof or the front bumper, let alone whether or not its strapped.

yeah just be careful, i've seen where it rubs the ac line and causes a leak but on mine it's in there solid and does not move.

Mine is wedged under that little hood tab,I think its unique to the Firebirds because of the pop up headlights.

Yeah, I think you're right on the Poncho difference... it is tucked in there pretty good. 2 years with a broken lip and neither track in this area gave a damn.

Personally, I think anyone that could come up with an aluminum replacement tray would make a mint... imagine... no more broken lips AND you could even drill/tap it for hold-down bolts. Might even help with cooling the power-steering fluid if designed right.

I couldn't find BMR's replacement tray... just a relocation for mounting it in the trunk.
