LT1 valvetrain
Looks like I'm gonna be doing the GM847 sooner than I had planned. Soon as I get settled in the new house I'll be pulling the heads and porting them and swapping the cam in, I can't wait any longer! I'm old school chevy and my question is what's the difference, if any, in the LT1 valvetrain and the old school GEN1 valvetrain. I assume you have to have LT1 specific lifters, are the pushrods a different length? What about roller rockers, would they be the same? I already have a set of 986 springs, retainers, 10* locks and pushrods from a previous GEN1 motor I never got around to building. Just need to know what interchanges between GEN1 and GEN2. If you could point me to a website or some good reading then that'll work too.
Thanks but that doesn't really answer my question. I was comparing parts on summit last night and it looks like everything is different from GEN1 to GEN2. Pushrods are shorter in the LT1, rockers seemed to be the same from '87 up. I don't know if the springs I have will work though.
The LT1 lifters and pushrods should be the same as all ROLLER motors from 87+, that spring part number sounds familiar it may be one that fits. You already sorted out the rocker thing. The LT1 is VERY much a 87+smallblock the rotating assemblies and valvetrains are very interchangable.
