The past few night I've heard from quite a few people that my car is kinda spitting flames....... Not like a huge fireball or anything more of a white glow when I am gunning it and let off the gas. Dunno what could be the cause other than running rich as hell. I'm not through any codes so I don't think a plug is fouled out and I'm mis-firing. Any suggestions as to what would cause this?

Don't hear of this happening too often. Could be a number of things. How many miles are on it?

 

you just put long tube and removed the cats...............then you are running rich.....it happend to mine and my brothers too....after these mods...get your car tuned and you'll see it will run stronger than now......not saying it's necessary but just an idea...

I had my LTs put on with a gutted cat before my cam and I havent had anything close to this happening. Have never had a tune either.

 

It could be misfiring due to a fouled plug or another reason and it wouldn't throw a code because it's OBDI which didn't had misfire detection.

Happens to me all the time and I love it. People pull up next too me and are like damn, how fast is your car?

 

The flames are because your'e running rich like mentioned. I had the same problem and it was sweet! I got it leaned out just a little bit.

They do this stock, as evidenced by my stock 95 Z28 a4 with a cutout and gutted (not my idea) cats. I was told this is normal, and due to a the injectors having a short period of time from going WOT to nothing, they cant stop spraying instantly and the extra lit bit gets burned out the exhaust.. I relaize that came out jarbled but I was on the phone. I wouldnt worry.

I have no cat, 103k miles, and i just sold my long tubes, cam, TB, ect.... Plan on getting rid of the car.
