Which cam should make the most power at peak and which one would be the best all around cam for my setup. Car is a 97 SS M6 with a set of ported LT1 cylinder heads w/larger valves - 2.00/1.55 - (flow approx 270/190 @ .600), SLP short tube headers, Random Tech dual cat y-pipe, SLP 2OTL catback, 52mm t/b, 30# injectors, 1.6 roller rockers, good tuning, and all the bolt-ons. I am interested in what the general concensus is on these four cams because I have to remain emissions legal and car is a daily driver. These 4 cams seem like the biggest that should still pass emissions. I have already purchased the XE503 but it has not been installed yet so I can sell it and go with something else if I want to. Feedback is appreciated.

Thanks for the info guys. I have read that the cam really drops off above 6000rpms. I'm not sure if the people are saying that because maybe there valvetrain could not handle it or if this cam just kind of pulls strong to that rpm and then really starts to die off. I plan on pulling the motor to around the 6300rpms range and my valvetrain should easily handle it as I am using the 918 beehives with hardened pushrods. On a side note does anyone know how much lift the GMPP self-aligning roller rockers can handle before rocker to retainer clearance becomes a problem? Thanks.

I would keep the 503. I had the 503 cam in my LT1 before I sold it and that cam pulled hard past 6200, where my shift points were set at. I would set shift points around 6400RPM with that cam. It had a great idle, sounded good and performed great too.

peak HP was made @ 6100 with my 503. My shift points are set @ 6200. I run Nitrous so I keep the shift points alittle lower. If I didn't run n20 I would set them @ 6400.

I feel sorry for you that you have to run a small cam with the flow on these heads. If I were you I'd get me a custom cam form someone like Bret Bauer who posts here under sstrokerace, or Joe Overtone, yeah he's the guy with the fastest NA LT1. Personaly I wouldn't go with the 503 mainly becuase of the small split.

Were talking about streetable cams that are not custom ground however. I dont feel sorry for myself for my cam selection. Yeah there is bigger and custom, but it all depends on $ and how much your willing to give up on streetablity. Besides there are much smaller cams than this.
Your right however I would have liked to have gotten a custom cam from one of those guys. Just wait till my *** gets out of school, youll see some crazy **** then.

Well, a custom cam is not that expensive, for example my cam from bret as part of the LE package is only $350. If you consider that a billet cam from comp is $300, that's only 50 buck for the custom. I used to have an xe230/236 @ 112 lsa, now my cam is much bigger especially on the exhust side, but it idles and drives much better now.
