Default K&N Filter Kit advice?

Hey guys,
I'm looking to put in a K&N filter kit from Ebay for ~50-60 bucks. Is there anything else that should be considered like fuel flow, timing, ICM, etc.? What do you guys recommend?

If your gettin the FIPK kit. . .you need to be wary of sucking up water. I found out the hard way. . .and lost an engine.

Just install it and your good to go. No mods really needed.

How did you end up sucking in water? I definitely need to avoid that!

This is the one I'm looking at... It's not FIPK.

That one doesn't look bad and you won't have to worry about sucking up any water with that one. Although, I don't think you will see as much of a hp gain with that. If I was you, I would save my money and get a K&N or Moroso CAI. It will suck up more air. But, you can do whatever. This is pretty cheap, so it depends how you look at it.

I've got a K&N FIPK that was used less than a month, and I dont drive very much. I sell it to you for $100 + shipping. Perfect condition.
I also have the 1LE elbow as well for $50 That was used for about 2 weeks.

Dont take off the CAI in rainy seasons. Thats a waste of time and performance. Just dont drive like a dumbass when it rains. Dont hit big puddles that are going to spray water all over your ****** filter and you will be fine. I drove around in the rainy season with mine and i even have a big hole cut in the plastic piece that guards the filter. Maybe you can take it off if you are in New Orleans.

What do you guys do to avoid intaking water? On my intake elbow, there is a port underneath that attaches to a closed tube. The port is not open so I took the tube off. I didn't see any reason for it to be there. But now I'm thinking that it could be used as a water trap or something....
What about you guys with Ram Air??? How do you avoid intaking water?

Which kit gives the most HP gain? Anybody got any #'s on that?

the ram air hood have drip holes on the bottom side and there is a baffle in front of the filter. the water hits the baffle and drips the to bottom and leaks out of the holes. a lot of guys take that baffle out though. unless it raining unbelievably hard the likelihood of rain making it into the engine is slim. if the water gets deep enough to get up to that filter you have more problems that worrying about your car.
