Default What is the best method for setting roller rockers?

I am doing a head and cam swap and I have 1.6 GMPP roller rockers, just wondering what is the best method to set them. Is there a spec on this or is it just done by feel. I have been told you can set them while the car is running by loosening them off until its noisey and then tighten it until it becomes quiet and then a 1/2 turn. I have also been told to do it with the engine off by cranking the engine over until the piston is at TDC and then tightening the rocker until you feel drag on the pushrod and then give it a 1/4 turn and tighten the locks. I know this job is not fun so I only want to do it once. Thanks for your input.

I use method 3. Get a friend to turn the motor over while you watch and it makes things easier.

Method 3 with a 7 dollar remote bump starter from Autozone, you can get it precise and do it by yourself.
