What effect does high stall TQ converters and gears have on your dyno numbers?

What would my rpms look like at 75 mph? So if i was to get the gears from Thunder Racing I would want to get the Strange 3.73 Gear Ratio, 2 series carrier? And whats the difference between the one I just stated and this one http://www.lmperformance.com/782/2.html ?
With a 26 inch tire, in OD you would do about 75 @ 2500 RPM's. Yes, that would be what you wanted. The only real difference in what you stated and the link you posted is that the $400 dollar kit comes with everything needed to install it, and a Rear stud girdle....which is a pretty good deal if ya ask me.

BTW, @ 2500 RPM's with 3.42's you would be doing 80MPH, so there is not a big difference in RPM's.

the higher the stall the more hp it sems to eat up... my friends car made only 318 rwp but over 400 tq... that was through a th400 with a 4000 vig stall and a 12 bolt.

Then put in the tire size, gear ration, and the tranny gears and you will also find your statement to be proposterous. For instance, 4l60's and 700R4's(which came in TBI auto cars), have the same OD gear of .70. With a 26 inch tire, 3.73 gears in overdrive the car can go almost 150MPH @ 5000 RPM's. Yes top speed has to do with power output as well as the gear ratio, but my buddies old LG4 RS camaro had 3.73's and had no problem going over 100. Hmmmm. Yes a change in gears will diminish some top end capability, but not nearly as much as you would like us to believe.

Hope this helps, Dick.
My car had stock IROC wheels on it. 245/50/16. I would "hope" you could understand why I believe this is true. All I did was put an eaton posi and a 3:73 gear on it. I never tuned the car at all. The car was stock before that. (except exhaust) As soon as that gear was on, 83.2 is the highest it would go. I believed for a long time that it didn't make any sense at all until I took it to a place to get a dyno tune. They told me that with those gears and where this car tops out at stock, it makes it stop there. Ever since then, I assumed that the information given to me was correct. It would be in OD at about 4500 RPM and then just cut down. It was screaming at the point also. The car didn't have any more. If it was pushed to the limit, I might have been able to get 100, but the motor probably would have blown up. You can tell it was done around that speed. Sorry for calling you a "dick," but I hope you can understand that it is annoying when someone says something makes no sense, when you were actually driving the car and had people look at it. I don't know what else to say, the car ran great, it just stopped going after that speed. What else could it be?

I have No idea what it could be, it honestly doesnt add up, thats all. 245/50/16...thats approximately a 25.7" tire. Even with a Non OD tranny, like a Th350 or Th400 at 4500 Rpm's you would be at over 90 MPH with 3.73's. Now, if you were in Drive, rather than OD....with 4.11's you would be rite at your 83.xx MPH. Still doesn't add up with those calculations either tho...didn't mean to call you out like i did, I was thinking that you had made a mistake and didnt realize what you wrote. Thats all.

I have a 97 Formula which came with a 2.73 gear (A4). I put in a Strange 3.42 gear. I lost 1-2 mpg but the change in power was worth it. It still hauls (haven't tried top end, but it is well over 100 mph) and I gained several tenths in the quarter mile.

No, it's cool man. I'm really confused to. (I'm happy I don't have the car anymore ) Like I said, I took it to a dyno and that's what they told me. I understand that it doesn't add up, but that's what happened. It's just weird...(By the way, whoever said it was the 700R4 transmission, your right. I never said anything about that)
