Default Help Crankshaft positioning sensor

I have a 97 camaro Z28 bu the motor I'm putting it is from 94 Camaro Z28 and the key on the crank is shorter than the 97 crank key therefore the crankshaft positioning sensor reluctor ring does not fit on the on the 94 crankshaft. Can I run the 94 motor without the crank positioining sensor on my 97 Camaro.

No you have to use the crank position. But the crank is the same for all years I believe.

The crank position sensor (CPS) is used by OBDII cars (96-97) for misfire detection only, you can run without it, it'll only throw a code which can be programed out. You can also put it on the 94 motor, as mentioned by the previos poster, the cranks are the same. I would just swap the front of the motor and convert it to vented opti before pitting it in.
