I have an opti that has 80,000 on it. Had no trouble with it before. But with all this I read I feel like I might as well get a new one or update the cap & rotor while the motor is torn apart and will be reving to 7000.
what do you guys think I should do? Just get a new opti.
It's a 96 by the way

does anyone have a better link to the summit cap/rotor kit? that link pulled up 1 of 334 pages.
are you going to keep it stock? if not might as well get a better, hotter ignition?
ME:
Could anyone tell me what the hold up is on the new LT-1 cap and rotor
kits? More specifically PN 8481. I have had my car up on jack stands
with the distributor off for 2 months and every time I call to check if
I can order one yet the release date keeps getting pushed back more and
more. As you can tell by my email I work for advance auto parts. I work
in the home office as tech support to our stores and have had some
stores asking about these as well. Jegs and Summit have been advertising
these for months and i have seen these in Hot Rod and GM High Tech
Performance in the back of the magazine were the talk about new products
on the market. The main questions I have are: when will I be able to
order PN 8481 and is it vented like the PN 84811. A big problem with the
92-94 opti-sparks is that the stock non vented caps increase the build
up of ozone on the optical sensors and decreases the life of the
distributor. Thank you for your time.
MSD:
Dear Sir,
The 8481 LT-1 cap and rotor kits are starting to ship, but there are so
many orders on backorder, that we are trying to recover and take care of
these orders first.
Thanks,
MSD Tech
ME:
Thank you for the info on that. Can you answer my 2nd question? Is PN
8481 vented like the PN 84811
MSD:
Dear Sir:
Yes PN 8481 is vented; the package includes the vacuum hoses required for venting the cap.
Thank you,
MSD Tech
