To build or not
To build or not Ok...Well awhile ago my head gasket blew on my camaro and caused my car to overheat, I was on the highway and ended up running it for a period of 40 min at about 240...I realize that prolly wasn't the best idea. So anyway since i'm at college and have no way of workin on it myself I took the car to a mechanic to replace the head gasket and to have a cam installed at the same time. The shortblock on my motor looked pretty good with only around 22,000 miles (acording to previous owner) but the mechanic was hesitant to put the cam in thinking that the rings may have been damaged when the car overheated. Anyway he's charging $800 to replace the gaskets and an addtional $650 for the cam install b/c the only way he'll replace it is out of the car...which means pulling the motor. So I was wondering if anyone might know whether or not my rings would have been damaged when it was overheated...b/c if so then I might as well build up a shortblock...anybodys imput is appreciated.
Also if anyone lives in the the central illinois area and would like to make sum money and can do it cheaper than the mechanic i'm talking to, let me know
