Default lt1/ls1 interchangability

i was looking at picking up my friend a 96 z28, i think they have the lt1 im not sure...i told him if he gets it that we could use some of my 00ss parts to add to his....are the motor dimensions the same and could you interchange parts like ls6->ls1 ls1->lt1 i couldnt find references for the lt1 specs but i have some books on the ls1/ls6 i dont wanna try to help my friend get this z28 to find out the parts arent compatable....this way i have a place to put my old parts and hed get some free mods....

IN a nut shell No. the LT1/LT4 is a generation 2 Small Block Chevy, which is more like a Gen 1 SBC The ls1/6 motors are a gen 3 and have many new parts that will not interchange with any previous generation motors without prolly lots of custom work.

I do believe that the only interchangable parts between the 2 motors are the lifters. Other than that, theyre completly different monsters.

but do the early 4th gen z's come with the lt1? i think they did, if so im gonna hafta start doin some research on those motors too.....
