Question IAT relocator question

Im thinking of getting an IAT relocator kit for my 94 LT1. I just have a couple questions should i get the kit that comes with the sensor or the one without it? And what does the sensor actually do? Also where do u relocate the sensor to does anyone have any suggestions?

all you need is the wiring, you should be fine with the existing sensor. move it to the airbox where it can read cooler more ambient air temps. i had a '95 z28 and that's how i had it!!!

ps. an iat sensor measures/reads the air temp going into the engine.

Did you notice any HP gains by moving the sensor?

Carefull with this topic, its dangerous............https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-modifications/380368-elbow-sensor.html i honestly think that sensor realocation might do something for some cars and none for others, ex. My buddies 94 z ran great without it in, But i run great with it in...all cars are different.

i have the K&N fipk so the sensor is in the airbox thats connected to the filter. so when i take out the sensor u said i should move it to the airbox isnt it already in the airbox. plus if i move the sensor to somewhere else under the hood arent the temps going to be hotter than they would if the sensor was left where it is because on the fipk the sensor is reading the filtered air coming straight from outside?

p.s. thanks for the help because this IAT thing has me stumped

My IAT is in the Air Deflector on my 97 it seems to work out with no problems, didn't notice any power gains but the temp is accurate now.
