Default TorqueArm Install Question

After installing QUITE a few suspension products I've developed a banging noise when transitioning from a stop to a start and from a start to a stop. I KNOW it's the Torque arm moving forward and backwards and when it is fully foward or backwards it causes a baning noise. Is this "normal'?! Or do I need to adjust the length of the front of the torque arm so that the swivel joint is never fully foward or backwards (thus eliminating the bang)?

Of is this due to my pinion not being set correctly? I followed Spohn's instructions which were "easy" and am pretty certain this is set correctly to -2 degrees True Pinion angle.

Thanks for your help guys/gals...

- Jeff

Hey man, if ya do a search you will find a ton of people that have the same exact noise. I believe Spohn says its normal and its just the nature of the beast.

Dammit...LOL. I pride myself on not asking a question until i've exhausted the search feature on at least a FEW forums. I jumped the gun on this one, obviously. After searching it seems it's just "normal" and i will have to get used to it.

Thanks for the very kind AND helpful reply...I'll let this be a lesson.

Peace and Torque Arm Grease!

Which T/A do you have? I had a Spohn T/A with the rod endlink and it was too noisy for a street car so I ditched it. The poly ones are supposed to be a bit quieter.

I have the crossmember mounted TA from Spohn, but with the Poly bushing. I have yet to run it, because I am waiting for the new engine to be finished. I looked around alot trying to decide on which to get, and saw this was an issue...but felt I could live with it. If this sound is only at part Throttle not WOT, then its the normal sound from what I have gathered. Most say its worth it for the adjustability, increased traction, and not breaking the tranny tail housing like the high HP cars with a trans mounted torque arm.
