throttle boby bypass, (re-run the hot coolant back to the radiator and not throught the t.b) , the ram-air trick, (cut a hole and make a scoop and mount it under where the intake gets its air from, behind the driverside front wheel), descreen MAF. that is all i can think of for the free ones. and they all work but by very little increases. I've heard the MAF one get like 1 hp, and that is risking something getting through your filter and messing up the MAF, (i've seen it happen), the t.b. bypass prolly gets maybe 1-2 hp, by getting the air into the engine at a cooler temp, but the air is moving pretty fast so im not sure how much of a diff. it will make. the ram-air one I've never really seen in person, just read about it. doesnt look very nice in my opinion, and doesnt seem like it is nearly as functional as a true ram-air.

Is relocating the IAT sensor considered a free mod? Basically it tells the computer the engine is getting cooler air = more power since it will lean it out some, which is okay since they are pig rich in stock form anyways.

But tuning is the best way to do that, this is just a half assed way to do it.

Dont de-screen the MAF. It will just mess up the calibration, its not worth the minimal power gains you get.

depending on what kind of state inspection you have you could remove the air injection and EGR. this may not alway be 100% free though. you would have to make the block off plates and buy a pipe fitting, under 2 bucks, to plug the hole in the exhaust manifold/ header. some say this helps some say it doesn't. i plan on trying it my self when i get the time. the EGR is a bitch to get to.

I agree with not descreening your MAF sensor. I descreened mine and nothing bad happened, but it's not worth the time. I didn't even really notice anything...I wouldn't have done it, If I knew what I know now.

By the way, is your srt-4 faster than the Z? (This question is for WhiteSSP)

Descreening your MAF is fine. Porting it will give false readings.

Gutting your cat can sometimes give you some more power and it will be louder for sure. All you gotta do is take a crow bar and bash up the honey comb stuff and start it up and blow it out.

Default take some advice

you dont dont dont dont dont dont DONT.. whan to use your engine to blow that cataylist out the back. think about how much of a pain its going to be if a chunk of that gets into your actual exhaust pipe and gets stuck in the muffler. the best way is to disconnect your downpipes and pull the entire downpipe assembly off and use a crowbar or a similar headbashing tool, as you go along pick the larger chunks out and throw them away... the platinum ...yes its pure platinum isnt really worth anything at all. use a blower and blow the **** out backwards...as in put the nozzle in the downpipe and let it come out of the cat. ***bow down to the optispark ....

No, nowhere near it. Of course i still havent gotten around to installing the spring mod (increases the boost, holds it longer), but in stock form its not, especially not up top. I'll be taking it to the track with the spring mod on the 28th hopefully, so I'll probably have a time in the sig then if its not too pitiful. FWD is a pain in the *** to launch though.

Eh, but really what does descreening do? You're not picking up really anything in terms of flow.

I do agree about the ported thing. I ran a 13.68@102.xx with a ported/descreened MAF. With a stocker, i dropped it down to a 13.52@104. Weather was actually better with the ported MAF, so it wasnt that.

I seriously recommend you do some searching here and on Camaroz28.com

You will find many more answers from old threads than we can give in this one.
