I'm new, need clutch help
Hi. I'm a noob here but I figured I'd ask, has anyone ever replaced their own clutch and had a problem getting the fork to stay in place?
I just put a SPEC 2 in my car and every time I get everything bolted up and step on the pedal, it's stiff. And the reason it's stiff is because the fork keeps slipping out of place and butting up against the side of the bellhousing. The only thing i can think of is that the fork was incorrectly installed before i even took it apart (it was, the u-clip/metal tab was all bent out of shape, was in the wrong position on the T stud, and was making a hell of a bad ticking noise before I pulled it apart), and so I have a new one coming from my local dealer. Does anyone else have any other ideas, and could anyone walk me through the steps of properly installing the clutch fork? After all, I could just be doing it wrong and that's why it won't permanently seat....Thanks

Pull the fork away from the tranny so it will be out of the TO bearings way. Get the tranny on the jack and line things up. Get the tranny on the bellhousing. You will need about an inch of spacing to put the fork on. When it is close, push the fork in and be sure it is around the TO bearing. This is a good time to install the slave cylinder. Push the slave cylinder rod in with your hand until it retracts. Put the rod ball into the fork and put the slave cylinder in place. This needs to be done somewhat quickly as the slave cylinder will start to extend again. If done correctly, the fork will stay in place and the slave cylinder ball will be on the fork. Pull the tranny together and put a couple of easy bolts in.
That should be it.
