Hitting the rev limiter??

Hitting the rev limiter??
Alright, my car has seemed to do this when I first got it as well. With my bolt ons, it just seems to do it a little more. Sometimes when I'm getting on it (leaving it in OD) the car will bounce the rev limiter for a second then shift. What is with that? You can tell that your losing a lot of power to. (especially when your racing) I have 17inch rims now and stock they were 16inch. I also have 275's all around. Could this effect it all? If I'm manually shifting, it seems to do it more often. It's not me at all, I make sure I'm in D way before, so it should not bounce the rev limiter. I really think I need some type of tune or something. Also, where should my car be shifting at? Where do the A4's make there peak power? Basically, if I can somehow get this changed, where should I make it shift, so I have a nice shift and it's always in a good powerband? Also, for some reason at 40mph the car doesn't seem as quick as it should be. I mean at first it is, but later it slows down then it's fast again. Actually, I think that has to do with the car hitting the rev limiter again. It really slows things down....

It's always been like this, but you have to understand I'm a freak...Anything little that seems a little strange I question. I test drove an 05 GTO and thought the transmission shifted weird and something was wrong with it. (I pay attention to everything, I can't help it) I think my car does the same thing as yours. Maybe that's what has been going on. Still, it shouldn't do that...Something is weird with that and I know there has to be something you can do about it. You know?

At 40mph I think thats just a weak spot to stab it in the gearing, if you punched it doing 35 it will take off alot harder. I heard manual shifting an A4 is bad because it will fry the tranny. The other day I had it in 2nd and I hit the rev limiter at around 65 or 70 or so then I quickly shifted it into 3rd or (D in a camaro). You should probaly just keep it in D or (OD in a Camaro) cause it shouldnt hit the rev limiter doing that plus its better on your transmission. As for peak power I dunno but I do kno that when you punch it doing under 35 the car takes off like a son of a b****.

I think your right about this. The car just doesn't feel right shifting it manually. I have noticed noticed it feels quicker when I leave it alone. (but that's probably just me) Also, when I'm just driving around town (40mph) should I keep it in D or OD? Which is better for the transmission? I know the car will sound pretty good in D.

Driving around town definetly leave it in D for Firebirds or OD for Camaros. I kno it sounds better in OD for firebirds and D for Camaros but its less efficient and such. Yea, manually shifting makes the car feel wack cause when u let off the gas it slows down so much and just sounds gay outside because you can tell its an auto being manually shifted. Leaving the car in OD for your Camaro will be better for your tranny and will allow it to live a little longer but when u go WOT in any gear, it will kill the clutchpacks but **** happens.

when u punch it at 40 you're low in 2nd gear so it's a weak point. anything 35+ until about 50-60 is a low 2nd gear and will kinda suck.
leave the car in OD. it's electronically controlled, not a manual valve body.
go WOT with the car in OD and let us know if it hits the limiter any more.

they pull just fine up top. it's the bottom of second like has been said a few times. anywhere from around 34-35 mph stock tire size and it won't downshift to first (when my car was stock and with 3.23s). you get the same kind of thing from a 65-70 roll where it says in the bottom of third.
now i can shift whenever and to whatever gear i want

I also have no really weak points in any gear at any speed, but the LT1 motor, in the nearly stock state, has nowhere near the top end of the nearly stock LS1. Thats all I was saying.
