Default I found out my car is a 93... Is this a major drawback?

Well I looked at the title today and IW as mistaken and the car is a 93, been reading and I find out that the computer takes EPROM chips.....Can I swap to a new ECU and add in the wires for the Mass Airflow Sensor? I think thats what it is, which the newer ones have? liek a 95+ ecu so I can tune it with out the chips or am I stuck with this kinda ignition...my other alternative is replacing them with an aftermarket set-up.......

Also for the transmission do I hjave a 700r or a 4l60 or a 4l60e???

any info would be appreciated....thanx !

The 93's have the 4L60 (Not the electronic 4L60E). You should have known what year your car was by the interior. The 93's had the yellow gauges. The 94 and up had the white.

ok I found out for sure I have the 4L60 transmission which has 1st 3.06, 2cd 1.63, 3rd 1.00, 4th 0.70, Reverse 2.29 gear ratios and the 4L60e has the same gears but I guess it has an electronic part instead of a hydraulic.....anyoen know the rear end gear ratio?

Why would that be a draw back..............1st year LT1 Camaro, speed density, 700r4/4l60. 3.23s and yellow gauges.

It helps temp, the RPMs might move 300-500, it says HP and TQ gains, dunno about that. It hardens shifts too, and if you get a stat witch is like 15 bucks, it turns ur coolin fans on quicker, i took 10 min for install, let me know if your still interested, i can get it to you as soon as possible.

The only thing the Hypertech chips for 93's change is the Cooling Fan temps and the Torque Convertor lockup speed. They cannot firm up the shifts on a 93 because 93's have the 700R4(4L60) which is not electronically controlled. Hypertech chips are totally not worth it. For about $150 bucks you can get a custom made chip from Alvin from www.PCMforLess.com

There is nothing wrong with not having a MAF sensor. Alot of the bigger motor guys sometimes even take them off and run speeddensity.

If you want alot of good 93 and speeddensity information, you should check out:

93s are cool because you can run big *** stalls in them and not have to change any thing, no stall wall

I bought a used Vigi 3200 a few years back for my 93, its perfectly street able, once upon a time when this car was my daiy driver I use to fight Houston traffic 30 miles each way with that stall, it was great never wished I didnt have it. Just made the need for long tubes all the more aparent. I had buddies with small stalls who said my 3200 would not be friendly on the street but untill you rip on it, the car isnt much different than stock. I think its a great stall speed for a bolt on LT1. My car ran 8.5s with that stall, cold air and a loud mouth, on 17s with street tires, no drag radials. No other mods, stock cat even, I'm happy with it.
