Default Flowmaster 10 series

Can someone one give me some advice??? I have a 95 Z with a 80 series 2 1/2 flowmaster and no cat. It sounds tough but I want something with a little more grunt. I was thinking of going to a single 3" flowmaster 10 series. I dont want it to sound like it's open headers though? Any ideas or alternative ideas

I would say go to the external enigine section and listen to the sounds of all the mufflers pick the one you like the best.

Headers and a good Y pipe will make it sound a lot meaner as well. Mine sounded great on 2 and a half inch flowmasters with hooker long tubes, a custom Y, and no cats.

I used to love the way that my flowmaster sounded with a cutout open. Flowmaster would be my last choice if you are looking for performance though.

I picked up 33rwhp by opening my cutouts in front of my flowmaster.

They sound good, but suck up HP like no other

Flowmasters rob horsepower?
Doesnt adding cut outs make having a muffler pointless? (we dont have emissions)
& arn't cut outs obnoxious? I think I am gonna do headers too. Which brings me to my next question; what headers should I go with? I read of guys spending $800. Is it worth the worth the hp to spend 800 when you could spend $300 to $400 on basic lt's.

Some of the more expensive headers are ceramic coated (spelling) In my opinion it is worth the money to get ceramic coated. To my knowledge the coating protects the headers and keeps them from rusting.

ya ceramic is good. but is it worth it to spend $864 on a set of "kook" headers or a spend $430 on ceramic lt pace setters. I dont mind spending some $ and gettting good headers but for twice the price do you get price the hp. If there is someone who is very familiar with headers and exhaust systems if they could lend me some of their knowledge on what do.

im running a 3 inch delta force race muffler... well 2 since i have duals. but i love how it sounds.
doesnt seem like im missing any hp either... i think its mostly the cross flow flowmasters that kill hp.

Every muffler company's cross flow style sucks compared to their own single in/out mufflers.

I run the one chamber Flowmaster mufflers on my car (dual 3 inch exhaust). Extremely loud, but totally brutal sounding.

So does anyone know if running a single in single out 3" or 3.5" into a dual adapter would be better performing than a cross flow single to dual.
