What would it take to achieve this? The car is bone stock right now. Id like to do w/o spray but im prolly gonna end up doing it. But what mods should i start with on my way to 500-600 rwhp.

Either a really nice H/C setup with a 100-150 shot or turbo.

somthing like a 383 or other stroker large cam, lt4 castings ported by loyd, lt4 intake, fully built bottem end . and a nice valvetrain. Kooks headers, true duals, 12 bolt rear end, and a relly good tune. should be able to get 500 out of it NA. on like a 200 wet shot it should make around 700HP and probly 800 TQ

What you should really ask yourself "What am I going to do with this car." HP is not everything.

It's going to be a little rough around the Edges with the Big cam and high compression your going to need to get those 500-600RWHP numbers...or the raised runner/18 degree heads. Ed does right at 500 RWHP with heavy...ported LT4 heads/intake 14.5 to 1 comp and 12 bolt verter car...With a manual it'll be a little easier but still 500rwhp is way less than 600rwhp...Maybe you should get a hold of Joe Overton...His combo makes great power with after market heads/intake......

I hit 422/447 with ported LT1 castings,12.1:1 CR, Small cam, and supporting mods, on pump gas. Added 150 shot and made 566/604. If you are looking for a car you can still drive regularly on the street I would not shoot for 500+ NA. Just my $.02.

lets see the recipe for 600rwhp would look something like this....
388,383,396,410 etc- stroker bottom end
12:1 cr +
Heads (here is where the $$$ is spent)-15* GM '615' heads or similiar sb 2.2 heads converted to reverse cooling and ported extensively
Intake- LTX intake, or an edelbrock super victor with wilson elbow converted to EFI
Cam- Solid roller custom ground for setup
FAST EFI ignition controller for those 7k+ shifts
1 7/8"- 2" LT headers
Accesories
Pro shifted 6 speed tranny
Chrom-oly driveshaft
9" rear end
4:10 gears, spool or locker
motor plate
bullets mufflers dumped
cage
full suspension setup
fuel system upgrade
canton oil pan

This would get you real close, throw as much dope as you want on it and the sky is the limit depending on tune, engine specs, and whatever your tuner thinks is safe for your setup.

500rwhp on a street is almost asking for trouble. Someone in my club bolted a supercharger onto their C5 Z06 and they were making 550 rwhp (not sure what kind of s/c or other mods he had..). He ran it off the road within a week . I'm not saying too much power automatically means you'll wreck, but it does mean a lot more responsibility and control over your emotions.

Yeah, I would say that would about do it....

I have maybe the most streetable combo for whats there...and I would not go to much bigger and call it totally streetable...I'm only expecting 440ish through my Now bigger stall of 4100rpms and 12 bolt...If I had a manual set up maybe (depending on rear end chose), 480ish...

Exactly, a big 'verter, heavy d/s, rear end, locker etc eats hp like nothing else. A better thing would be to say.."I want to hit basement tens or high 9's what do i need?" HP ratings are very amiguous to say the least.

Ed makes 508 RWHP through a 4l60E, it was dynoed with a stock converter. I dont remember him saying his compression was 14.5to 1 though.

He said 500HP, not 500 RWHP

500 HP is achievable with a properly setup 355, easier with a 383.

Mindame on CZ28.com made 570 to the wheels through older style GM 18* heads and a LT4 intake on pumpgas with a six speed, it prolly makes more now(he said) as he has canged some things. It ran 9.70s all motor.

It would take you trading in your LT1 for an 03 Cobra and Kenne Bell. That's fairly easy isn't it!
