Default Need help please, trying to diagnose whats wrong with the car.

Well today I actually drove the car to work which is only 6 miles.....I threw my moms tag on there cause its not registered yet :-(

Anyways I was driving an dI notice if Im crusing at what ever mph and what ever rpm if I goto roll on the gas a tiny bit the car sputters and shakes and barely picks up speed I have to press the pedal down more for it to stop or I have to let it swicth to say 3rd or I will switch to 3rd....... Im thinkin this is possibly the torque converter since Im having problems with that?

That or Opti-Spark or a Blown headgasket resulting in performance......Sure I can spin tires pretty good and swing the rear end out but it jsut doesnt run liek a V8 should......anyone have suggestions????

Thanx a ton guys!

no using regular, happens all the time....also if Im sitting at the stop line and I put it in nuetral so that it doesnt want to creep or let the rpms drop and I switch into drive rpms dive a lil low......

I plan on doing a major overhaul but wanna get her runnign properly for right now

Try 91+ octane and some plugs and wires. Should help alot if it's been sitting awhile. Just my .02.

well I found the power problem, I think one of my numbskull frineds didnt put the sprak plug wire back o the spark plug and on the header bolt instead :-( well considering I almost spun out coming into my neighborhood, I'd say so hahah....but I still have the other problem the shuddering.......kinda liek when I'm crising at about 2-3rpm or any rpm where theres not much load on the car and I slightly roll on it shudders like its taking a crap.

Not to be rude here, but the only available item from MSD is the Cap and Rotor Kit. Their redesigned optispark (i.e the whole unit) will not be out until sometime next year.

Well this isnt liek a gas thing, Im sure if I threw some 93 in there it would do the same thing, I wish I could get a good video of the car driving......basically when the car starts to lug down a lil from a load being put on the engine it jsut like feels like its getting a misfire or somethign or not the right amount of fuel....I dont know guess I Will just have to deal with it till the overhaul of the car

Sounds like plugs/wires. If you hammer it in OD, shouldn't it drop to 3rd anyway? Are you sure you don't have a tranny problem? Converter? Line pressure?

No if I hammer it it will either shift into 3rd and go or it will accelerate in 4th jsut when I slightly roll on it it does it........I jsut talked to one of my buds and he suggested some fuel treatment cleaner to hopefully clean up the fuel system.....The system has 146k + miles on it so its possible that the injectors are dirty and arent floing enough fuel at lower rpms I guess.....I'm gunan pick up a bottle of fuel injector cleaner tomm and try it out.

Get ahold of some software and observe the pulsewidths of your injectors or put a voltmeter on each one individually. With that many miles, perhaps your injectors are failing out.

hmmmmm what do I do, jsut test the volts on each injector and make sure they all add up, what about at rpms, will at idle do it or should I have someone hold it at a certain rpm?
