i have one question also about the cat, i am working on a 1995 model car and im wondering if there is a sensor to check if the cat is working or just the one for the fuel mixture

As for sound, some like it some don't. If it's clogged, you'll notice a huge difference in power. If it's not clogged, depends on your mods. As for gutting. I took a tire iron to mine. Basically unhooked the pipe from the back of it, and pryed and jabbed and broke off peices till it was practically all out. Fired it up to shoot out the dust and missed peices BEFORE hooking the exhaust back up so it wouldn't clog the muffler.

Gutted or removed, I doubt you'll pass the sniffer. As stated above, you're OBDI so you will not have a SES light thrown.

If you're worried about passing the sniffer, I'd look into making a cat delete pipe with a couple of flanges on so you can bolt it in and out. That's what I did before I got my car exempt
