It won't really gain you any power but the sound will definitely be different. A lot louder and deeper tone (much better IMO).

As for sound, some like it some don't. If it's clogged, you'll notice a huge difference in power. If it's not clogged, depends on your mods. As for gutting. I took a tire iron to mine. Basically unhooked the pipe from the back of it, and pryed and jabbed and broke off peices till it was practically all out. Fired it up to shoot out the dust and missed peices BEFORE hooking the exhaust back up so it wouldn't clog the muffler.

It didn't throw any codes on my car when gutted (94). Since 95 is OBDI also I don't think you would have any problem.

Yeah it really depends on what other exhaust components you have.

It doesn't really sound that good with the Loudmouth or Borla IMO (too much rasp).

Should sound awesome with Hooker though.

If it's fairly stock (just boltons, etc.) and doesn't have a cam or headers then it should. Mine did. There's no guarantee it will though.

It shouldn't, didn't for me.

I think it will on OBDII cars though.

OBD I shouldn't know if the cat is working or not. OBD II will.
LT1s switched in 1996 to OBD II (I think). Yours is definatly OBD I though.

I guess that is better than some descriptions of "gutting" a cat.

Gutted or removed, I doubt you'll pass the sniffer. As stated above, you're OBDI so you will not have a SES light thrown.

I have Hooker headers, no cats and GMMG and it sound wicked

If you're worried about passing the sniffer, I'd look into making a cat delete pipe with a couple of flanges on so you can bolt it in and out. That's what I did before I got my car exempt
