Default Turn Signal Switch broken?

My turn signal was working fine until the other night... I pushed it down to signal a left turn, and when I completed my turn, the signal turned off. A few minutes later I tried to signal another turn, but the **** was just hanging loosely, I didn't feel any resistance at all.... and when I lifted it up (where it would normally signal a right turn) it just falls back down.

All the other switches work (wipers, "brights", etc.) but it just doesn't signal turns anymore.

Thanks.

*Bump*

The real question is:

What exactly broke? And how hard is it to fix?

unless the lever itself broke (look to make sure that it's still holding into the switch ok) your going to have to dig into the column and see what happened. This is not something that I recommend you do yourself due to the need of special tools and disabling of the air bags.

Possible causes are the switch, switch cam, lever arm or bolt ect ect ect. Only one way to find out.

Those are messy! I had a local guy replace a switch for me. I didn't have anything "broken" per se.
