Id shy away from the Comp R lifters. The new design is very hit or miss. I went with them before the problems arose ended up with a set from the "new batch" but have had decent luck(only had one fall apart on me and caused no issues) but its not worth it the risk IMO. Also, what is the part number for the Comp timing set youre looking at?

he is right about the lifters, cz28 has a sticky about them in the lt1-lt4 section. stock replacements are what everyone is recomending instead.

oh yea, and about the timing set, if you go with the 95+, you will need a new opti, but you can sell your buddy the one you have, and also, you will need the 95+ timing cover and I am sure there is something else, but if you need one, I have one I am getting ready to post on ebay, let me know before I do, I will make you a deal on it.

another thing you might want to consider is your cam bearings, if they are going, probably are with 130,000+ miles on your car, you will need to have them replaced, (I know you are proud of your service record, but I have seen the condition of your plugs, so who know what the last owner did) which might run you deeper into the money pit called power you are now addicted to.

Good luck man. Just for piece of mind, when I did my first cam swap, we pulled the motor and one of my buddies replaced all my cam bearings. The only one that looked like it had wear on it was the very front one. CHEAP insurance if you ask me.

go for the GM847 instead of a CC306?... research on both a little bit and find the one more suitable for you.
