Pretty much either a Lunati or a stock set. Its been said that the Lunati timing set is just a stock set with a $100 mark up but I dont have any personal experience with it. Im using a new stock chain on my car with the GM847 without any problems.

The Opti has nothing to do with the timing chain. Since you are already using an electric water pump you can use a Cloyes double roller chain. Probably runs in the $70-80 range.

I am using stock replacement chain. I think any other chain is just a waste of money.

93 modle the Opti is splined to the camshaft spocket. is 94 also?? i cant remember, but later years used the Pin drive optispark, requiring a longer the usual pin on the camshaft.

running any cam designed for later LT1 will require dowell pin pushed in to normal length of SBC, or cut to correct length.

If it were me i wouldnt go to trouble of buying expensive timing chain for 93 modle, but upgrade to vented opti, later timing cover, etc.

so i finnaly came up with a conclusive reply on another board "there is no way to run any true double roller/or Hd timing chain with a 93-94 cover/opti. You must upgrade to a 95+ style cover, opti, and WP. " looks like ill be going with a brand new stocker.... ive heard of quite a few people running them with no problems

Yeah I would say IF you have to change your opti in the future to just go with the newer timing cover and opti. That way if you ever have to put a new chain on you will have more options.

I just put a new stock one back on when i swapped cams.
