Default Time for a new battery?

I noticed the car after sitting for a week wont want to start, the starter will make noise but the motor wont turn over, minute I so much as touch it with the battery jumper, that car fires up instantly, mainly happens after its been sitting for a week unrun. The alternator looks good, charge is really strong once it gets going. The alarm stays on and so does the LED for the Monsoon head unit. Thinking about getting another Optima but the red top I have now is huge, looking for some thing smaller and lighter, what do y'all run?

Mine always did that. It can't sit long at all without going dead. I've had several batteries but now I run a 13.5 lb Hawker Odyssey PC680 (identical to the Dynabatt). I got it for about $65. I keep undone if I know it will be sitting for more than 2 days without driving.

Your not alone, If mine sits for more than 2 weeks without being driven, it's nearly dead. I went with a optima red top, other than the aux top post , it wasn't much larger than my stock battery.

Yeah, now its down to a few hours of sitting and it wont start with out a jump from the battery box, guess its not holding charge because the alternator judging by the volt gauge is charging it, guess that battery cant hold it for any long period of time.
