Default LT-4 Mods

Hello -

My friend is looking to mod his 1996 LT-4 Corvette. It is completely stock at this time and has 8,000 miles on it. As I am more familiar with the C5, can anyone point me in the right direction in terms of what vendors/products he sould consider for the following mods:

LT Headers
Air Intake
Exhaust - I think he is going with a Corsa.

Are there other mods he should also consider - Ported heads.

Any help would be appreciated.

As with all LT1s the cam is the choke before the heads, if he wants to port the heads fine but do a cam at the same time. As far as headers and air intake pretend it is an LT1 and you will find all you need.

Let me first say that I envy your friend. That is a rare Vette. Now onto the mods

-LTs are going to run some money. TPIS makes a nice set for the LTX Vettes. These can be purchased from Corvette Central. Your gonna also need to get a custom Y-pipe made.
-Since the Vettes air intake has a pretty straight shot, I would recommend getting a K&N filter and an Open air lid from Mid America Motorworks. I would also recommend a 52 mm TB.
-Corsa is the best sounding exhaust so I would second that recommendation.
-For heads, I would recommend sending them to Eportworks (www.eportworks.com) for porting and to get a custom cam setup if he decides to go into the heads.

Heads and cam requires a tune sure you understand that just you wrote tuner OR heads and cam.
A tune is a great mod for even an otherwise stock car.

tell him congrats on the car.
Vette guys are partial to the lt4 hotcam for driveability. I'd go a little bigger.
Maybe crane cams cc306?
Long tubes from exotic muscle or tpis, both are stainless and quality headers, but very expensive.

The corsa is the best exhaust, but at around 900$ it should be.

Tell your friend to check out www.corvetteforum.com. Lots of info there on modding the lt4.
