Gutted Converter

should i do it or not how many guys in here gutted thiers i have a 95 camaro so its a single cat obd1 car i have a hotcam and the heads done on it with a edelbrock cat back, I want the exhaust a little louder will this help or hurt my performance i looked in a forum search and couldnt get a strait answer im in cali i was just going to gut it so it looks like i have a cat any input welcome!!

im curious if a OBDII car would flip out if you gutted the cat... i know the OBDI cars are far less sensitive about that

yeah obd1 cars dont have downstream o2 sensors i know they monitor the converter effiency im sure they would wig out thats why people use sims

what else you got done to your car? While your at it get your PCM tuned and have that o2 sensor "deleted"... all problems solved

Yes it will set an error code on OBDII. Bascially you either need programming to have the code deleted or some O2 sims installed.

It is worth it in an emissions area as long as you can get the code cleared. If you don't have emissions then just get an ORY or replace the cat with a new piece of exhaust tubing.

Yeah i have a pcm for less tune and i have a cable and the software to turn it off if i had to my car is obd1 so no downstream o2's.I was just curious of the gains if any and how louder my exhaust would be,i dont want it to be anoyying loud you know
