Honestly, with an automatic you really wont have to worry. You dont even really NEED a BOV with an auto, look at turbo buicks they run without BOV's all the time. The throttle never closes all the way with an auto (or at least thats what i've been told), so it doesnt put as much pressure on the turbines as with a stick where the throttle blade snaps shut, leaving Xpsi shooting back towards turbine spinning at 100,000 rpm.

And even if you do get one, the only time it will blow off will be when you've let off the gas, so really it wont affect performance all that much, maybe driveability a tad. And as far as mail order places tuning it out, i dunno.

AFAIK the way to "tune it out" is to basically lean the mixture up when the throttle blade closes, so that way it doesnt dump fuel because of what the MAF read which is no longer there. Basically, you're compensating for what the MAF is going to tell the ECU to do thinking that the air (which you're venting out) is there, when it really isnt. If you understand that at all anyway.

And I'm by no means an expert on this, but I've done some research on turbo's and turbo systems and I do own a turbo vehicle now. I've wanted to fab up a turbo system for my car since I had my 5.0 Notchback (which is how I know about turbomustangs.com).

I'd advise you to pick up "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell. I just finished it a few months ago, and its a great book to learn more about turbocharging in all aspects.

When choosing a turbo, always choose the one that maxes out where your setup is going to maz out. Thus the turbo will spool quickest and be best suited for your setup not to big and not to small. For example if your planning on making only 750 HP as I read I would look into a 67 MM turbo such as this http://www.speedshopthagard.com/garrett/T4TO4R.html with maximum capable HP of 700. Another question I ask is Are you going with a brand new turbo or a used turbo?

Now you say your just going to get a mail order tune due to the dyno and tuner being to far away. I would just have to go against this, forced induction really needs to be fine tuned on a dyno and everything be read then and there to be perfect. When doing a setup like this tuning should be the number one priority in mined nothing else.

Once I get another LT1 I plan on turboing it immediately, like you are doing but my boss will be helping me build custom manifolds for it and ordering all the piping and stuff pieceing it together.

Good luck with your setup and if you could keep us updated I would appreciate it as Im looking to doing the same thing you are.

well im going to use a t61 for the small boost and a mail order tune..

when i up myself and do the full build (all forged... 4 bolt mains... 15-20 psi).. im trailering the car to Denver (for a dyno tune) and im probly using a t76 for my turbo.
