Default Rocker Arms

What do you guys think about the Crane Cam Gold Race Rockers? I bought some in place of my GMPP's becuase i am going to go around 600 lift. Is it better to have Non-Self-Aligning rockers and use guide plates? Or use self aligning rocker arms. And will the Non aligning rockers fit with guide plates without clearence problem?

Non-SA rockers w/guideplates and hardened pushrods are generally more stable than SA rockers.

Crane golds are the same exact rockers as GMPP just different color, so don't waste your time.

Actually SA is more stable at the valvetip but has issues with higher lift.
The Crane golds are different but very similar to the GMPP seems like the original poster did his homework and knows this. The primary difference has to do with slot length and therefore lift capacity, the GMPP ones were speced to only allow something like .550 lift, but other than that they were made by Crane for GM.

Worst thing you will find anyone say about the ProMagnums is YEARS ago there was a bad batch but that is corrected, and the SA ones can be noisey other than that they are a very popular choice.

what would be the best rocker arms to buy? So would it be a good idea to get the lt4 knock module? Or can it be tuned out by pcmforless?
Thanks for the help.

ProMagnums are going to be my next rockers though I have nearly 50K on a cheap set of ProForms. On the KM, I bought one years ago and use it but I thnk the tuners have figured out how to tune the same results.

the best rocker you could buy IMHO are Jesel's

I go through a set of Pro Mags a season. Trunions are always blown out. some thing about high RPMs and LT1 oiling from what they are telling me.

Heck right now I am running Jegs aluminum rockers on the intake

Aren't the ProMagnums rebuildable? Or is it one of those cases where they are rebuildable but it cost as much as new lifters?

I actually have almost 50K on some ProForms and just swapped out the intake ones for some 1.65 CATs in hopes of pulling a little more out of this cam before it comes out. Those were really cheap and I later found out an aquaintance lost a motor due to them failing and him not noticing and just repeatedly readjusting them.

What weight/type of oil are you using and what oil pressure do you run? I am curious because I am getting ready to put a set of these rockers on a Stocker motor that we will be running in NHRA Super Stock. I have run the GMPP/Crane rockers on a couple of motors without issues. Except that the only gain that I got was in reliability. The 1.5 rollers didn't gain anything performance wise over the factory rockers. I'm hoping that the lighter weight magnums will be worth a little.

Thanks,

Daren
