Default bog issue

Everytime I turn on my heat it seems the car runs funny. The RPMs will move as they please. When driving it's really noticable. If you stand by the hood you can hear something fliping on and off like a switch. Anyone know what the problem could be.

Is that sound your A/C clutch engaging and disengaging?

Well to answer that I'm gonna say when the car's cold it's really bad and not so bad when warm. As far as the A/C clutch I dunno, I lost cold air from my A/C at the end of last summer and didn't really look into it since I could just put the windows down. However I think it was starting to do it then. How would I do anything involving checking or replacing the A/C clutch, if that be the case?

The symptoms you describe sound like either your refrigerant leaked out, or you have a bad schrader valve. You should hear a click coming from the front of the A/C compressor. Normally, it will only do this once every few minutes, but if bad it will be every few seconds and the rpm's will drop when it clicks on, rise when it clicks off.

If either is true, just take it to get the A/C serviced and the problem will go away. It sounds like you need the A/C worked on anyway.

I was watching under the hood today and something starts spinning then it just stops. Then it repeats the process. I'm not sure what is spinning but it's the far left of the belt but not the alternator.

That's the A/C compressor clutch. Time to get the A/C serviced!
