I've been wondering the same thing. I can't afford to **** up the opti, so I keep putting it off.

I knew someone who let the engine get warm, cut it off, wrap opti in plastic bag with some tape to seal it. Spray with degreaser and hose it off. Then let it dry some and start it back up. Dont quote me on that though.

I know someone that would pressure wash it with the opti free and never had a problem. My opti has gotten wet before, you just need to let it dry.

I know there is a sticky on the proper cleaning of an LSx engine bay, but I haven't seen much on the LT1 side. I don't really do much with mine, but it's not bad looking at all. Just use Armor-All or whatever on the plastic parts under the hood, such as the K&N FIPK etc.

But it would be nice to be enlightned by the LTx cleaning experts around here.

why wouldnt you use a pressure washer? as long as your car is cooled down the opti isnt hot so theres no chance of it cracking from the cool water. other than that you shouldnt be worried. i say some degreaser sprayed on and let soak then some scrubbing and pressure wash it all away

And then a hose! My opti gets wet all the time, with no drama.
The vented optis are pretty stout, I ensure that I don't douche the opti/ hit it with a solid stream and it gets me to work every day.
