Default 95TA vs. 97TA

how come a 95TA has 275hp and an 97 has 285hp?? I found a 95TA for a good price and was wondering if it was worth buying or should i wait for a 97 to come around..also are there any common problems i would have with a 95 with 55K on the odometer? thanx

the 93-95 cars have 1 cat which was more restrictive than the 96-97 dual cat cars.. therefore giving it 10 rated hp when switching to 2.. nothing is different between the 95 and 97 except that so if you plan on doing full exhaust .. it wont matter
i say get the 95 with those low miles
good luck!

'95's have the OBD1 computer which is way better than the OBD2 in that '97. OBD2 doesnt respond well to mods etc. Also '95 has a vented optispark. I've heard many times that '95 is the best year LT1.

yea, only thing that i really dont like about the 95, or really any lt1 before 97 is the dash, the 97 has the digital odometer and the seperated gauges, the 96 is seperated but not digital, honestly, to me, this makes a world of difference for interior appearance, and as for the mods you have to tune out emissions or run o2 sims if you just get rid of the cats, im not sure about obd1 stuff though. Either one is a great car, its not hard to swap the dash and i think there is a company that will actually put the correct mileage on the digi odometer if you choose to go that route, either way its a great car and i say go for it. Good Luck

Here's my '95 dash. The '97 would have the digital odometer like zlover said. Both interiors are great tho unlike '93's which IMO look nasty.

94 Z28 here with No Emissions, Just headers into a flowmaster. Emissions is a waste on High Performance cars.

Someone hit it up top... 95 had OBD1 (good), vented opti (good), and single cat (good, I guess). If I were to find another I'd like a '95, and just forget the '97 cuz 55k miles for that 95 is LOW IMO. Good luck!
