Budget Build Questions What parts are needed to totally rebuild LT1 heads?
I plan on putting in a LT4 Hot Cam Kit (BUDGET).
Should I replace the stock lifters (car has 85k miles)?
Anyone know the GM stock part# for LT4 lifters?
Should I put new valves in?
Or just clean up the old ones?
The heads will be mildly ported and cleaned at a local shop.
Anyone know of a link for porting guidlines?
I have access to all the tools necessary to do it, and all winter to decide if I want to try it.
Is an upgraded timing chain worth the money for this app?
Will a 3" single high flow cat with a 3" custom y-pipe flow more than dual stock cats?
Currently have emmission shorty's and don't want to pollute the enviroment more than I already do.
I will kill the 02's.
I have roughly $1500 to spend on parts.
I plan on keeping the car for at least a few more years, as a daily driver.
I basically want to do this build right, once.
Any answers to any questions would be greatly appreciated.
I plan on dynoing after I'm finished, as well as take pics on the whole install.
Car is in hibernation for the winter.
