Default Upgrade For Opti-spark Any Good???

i turned 286 rwhp 331 rwtq on the dyno in my 94 z28 6spd, i have basically intake and exhaust mods only and a jet stage 2 chip (which ive heard may be hurting me). but my horsepower curve drops dramatically at 4500 rpms (each pull) and does not recover . the dyno guy says it may be the opti spark acting up. i have replaced the opti spark already twice. i have 8.5 or 9 mm msd wires.

my question is are any other distributors any good? i was looking at an msd http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

my mechanic told me theres really nothing better than what is on there already but i find that hard to believe.
thanks

your numbers don`t sound bad if you want to upgrade your opti the msd cap and rotor isn`t to bad but it`s not nothing but a updated part thr electrodes are a bite bigger. if you want a real upgrade check out the dynaspark at dynatech i bhought one after going throught 5 factory optis. the factory style units are faulted the dynatech opti improves on ten different problems check it

for the price of that dynaspark you would be better off waiting to see how people like the MSD unit. That link you gave is for the cap and rotor only. I'm not sure when the actual MSD opti will be out. Well it's out but who knows when summit is going to say they're available for delievery.

The billet opti from MSD is not out yet. They have pushed the release date back to April or so now.

The cap and rotor maybe, but not the COMPLETE opti. Trust me...I have inside connections, the complete billet opti is not in production yet. MSD is still waiting on raw materials to be able to go into production.
