Is this possible LT1 to LS6
Curious, if i could swap in an LS6 in my LT1 TA without much problem, i mean besides from a new chip, engine, some misc things, wouldnt it be fun and of medium difficulty

best bet is to get a wrecked LSx car and take every thing you need. 
There is alot of it.
OH and yes the trans is definately different. different length's and different bellhousings. you can physicly bolt the two together but it will take the right clutch and or TQ converter. Custom stuff

no not a direct fit. the LSx 4L60E never came in the C4. There for they never made one for the C-beam. you can use a LTx 4L60E but the converter will be custom. no big but some thing to be looking for

I've been thinking about it for my '94Z. I gotta get rid of the L99 (4.3L Caprice motor) I have in there right now.
I figure to do it right, I'd need to swap the entire electrical system. Gauge cluster works differently (tach will be off). A cluster swap doesn't work plug n play either, unless you use the LS1 gas tank (gas sending units are different). The OBD plug under my dash is different (OBD1), so that'd need to be taken care of. Does the radiator have hoses that go on differently? I don't remember. The LS1 uses a returnless fuel line, so 'something' needs to be reworked there (more info in the Conversions & Hybrids forum on that).
I have the K-member from my '98, the whole steering rack assembly & pump, my old waterpump, the entire A/C system, even have a set of front LS1 spindles & brakes that I already planned on putting on the '94... but it'd be a heckuva lot more work than just rebuilding my old motor (the LT1 that I blew up).

It will fit fairly east in a F-body. You can use a LT1 Tank but I would upgrade the pump and make it a return style system. all you have to do is put a fuel regulator up front and use the LT1 return hose with it.

why SHOULD he go with an LS1 radiator?? why go to a smaller radiator when he already has one that is 50% larger? it's as simple as blocking off the lines that used to go to to the oil cooler.
the LS1 fits just fine under the hood of an LT1. it's the LS1 lid (air induction) setup that wont' fit under a stock LT1 hood.
anyway, you can use the fuel rail setup from a 97-98 vette which had a regulator on the rail and keep the LT1 fuel pump setup the way it is.
the input shafts and bellhousings are different but the LT1 t56 will bolt up to an LS1. you lose two bolt holes in doing so and need to use the LT1 clutch setup. if i was going to have an LS1 i'd rather have the push style clutch which the LS1 had instead of the pull style, but that is all M6 info anyway and you're talking automatic.
all the gauge stuff can be remedied, but i'm not sure if someone makes a setup that is already available.
i REALLY don't think you should take on a project like this if you don't even know all these differences between the cars. it is by no means of "MEDIUM DIFFICULTY," especially for somebody who doesn't even know what needs to be done.

Anyways I was suggesting it for the ease. Both The LT1 rad I saw leaked. Other then that it should all be good.
I still think and after market regulator is a better way to go and you still use LT1 lines.

sorry i was just making a discussion i mean its not like i was going to really do it, and if i was, i have a master mechanic at my disposal so i was just learning the difficulties and what would be needed. dont bash me!!!!
i wasn't bashing you. just because you don't know something doesn't mean anything about you. there are plenty of very knowledgable ppl that couldn't rattle off a list of the things that would be needed for the swap.
i was trying to be realistic and a project like that is rough even for somebody who knows the cars well enough to know all the differences. i just didn't want you to get in over your head with a project like that, by not being prepared or by thinking that it would be much easier than it is.

I did it..............Buy an LS1 car before you do it...after the cost of all the little things adds up you could have bought an LS1 car. I just did it because you don't see an ls1 under the hood of a Firebird" not trans am everyday.
