Losing power and MPG help!!1
I recently installed headers, mid length edelbrock, i checked to make sure any exhaust leaks, i found one header bolt way loose and tightened it so its now sealed to my knowledge *at least i think so*, about 2 days after installing the headers, ive had significant power loss and decreased MPG, not sure what it is here is the current condition of my car:
the AIR and EGR is disconnected
i dropped the o2 and the red part hit the g round when it dropped *not sure if thats a possibility*
car has been sitting for a year or so 1 1/2 months ago *i just got the car*
new spark plugs *not wires*
curious on what it may be...im thinking o2s
the headers are making it so hot its hitting the wires so i may need new thicker, better wires and a relocation kit
header gaskets *appeared good* but could be burnt now?
need feed back!
Could be o2's. Did anything break when you dropped it??
If you found a header bolt "way loose" it's likely you have a blown gasket. But since your headers are two days old (I'm assuming you also changed header gaskets when you got the headers) they might be fine. Check anyway.
Check spark plug wires or feel for a misfire. I currently run taylor 10mm wires. No problems yet... but it's still early... You could get a relocation kit... or just position the wires very carefully. I disregarded my over the valve cover kit when my wires arched (had taylor 8mm wires then and heat sleeves).
If there is a missfire the pcm will read the o2's and see the increase in o2 and will then throw more fuel in, which is giving you the crappy milage. And it will be a noticable loss in power.
