Comp 977 springs

Comp 977 dual springs, anyone know offhand if these will fit an unmodified l1 head? they were made for SBC use..

No they will not. The spring seats in an LT1 are not big enough. Great spring though...I run 'em.

I have used the 977s on many stock LT1 heads for that reason.....they DO fit without any machining. Just run the flat (not the cupped) spring seats from Comp.

All you need is to grind a very small piece that hits the cup, I did my two heads in 10 minutes it is that easy. Just put your cup in there and you will see what I am talking about. Use the cupped seat they are much more reliable.

edit: I just checked and you're right, the o.d. of the 977 will fit (1.460"). I have the o.d. of a different spring on the mind (#930) for another car.
