I used a canton on my 396 & made the mistake to make sure it cleared. Well i endend up having to do a rebuild after about 100 miles because of the crank was hitting the oil pan. just make sure it clears. here's some pics of where mine was hitting. You're gona have to do some grinding. i just cut notches out where it was hitting.

i ended up having to tear it down & just replace the bearings & have the crank polished. i also had to do some grinding on the rear part of the oil pan right where it bends at the top the crank also hit there a little. just be sure that nothing is hitting when ur done

well my builder is putting it on at the shop, we've discussed many details already, he wants the pan as well as everything else for just this reason. That really sucks something like this took you down, good luck getting her all back together.

Is this the only pan available for a 396/398 stroker? I'm gettin a pretty good deal on this oil pan and its brand new, so i couldnt pass it up. But i also have a Callies Crank that i dont want to rouine if you know what i mean.

I got a Canton pan from the meatheads at Nutek Motorsports. It wouldn't even clear my K member. They were being real deutsches about it so I couldn't get a refund. They insisted it was the right pan. My dad is pretty decent about engineering stuff so he cut a section out of the front and welded it back in. We had to remove about 2" of the baffle in the pan but it all worked out ok. About 6 months after our little experiment, Canton started making the F body pan with the clearence provision. I'm glad Nutek went out of business.

I have an issue with mine, it's a tight fit it almost looks like the pan is sitting on the k-member. & in order to get the diver side header out u have to raise the engine (if u have LT's)

I have the same pan on my 383 stroker and it fit great. Make sure you turn the motor over when you put the pan on to see if anything hits. I had to grind one small spot on the crank scraper. 5 min tweak.
