It's a common problem. Put on an Energy Suspension mount and be done with it.

I ordered my energy suspension tranny mount awhile back and its held up fine, but im pretty sure if you run down to your local auto store they will have them. Or you can get them from energy suspensions website for like $25. Part #3-1108R. Your local auto store might try to tell you it wont fit, but it slips right in.

Yep, its a very common problem with 6 spd cars. I also broke a total of 4. The first three were cheap autozone pieces, I finally paid the extra buck and got a factory replacement from the dealer and has held up for over a year after about ten visits to the track. I was thinking about a polyurethane piece but heard that a lot of vibration travels though the shifter.

Mine is an auto and i have no vibration. The only way that i could tell a difference after it was put in was that there was no loud bang when it shifted.

Easy:
1. put jack under trans so it doesn't drop down, if you don't it will drop down an inch or 2
2. remove (1) bolt in center of crossmember to loosen broken trans mount
3.remove crossmember (4 bolts)
4. remove old tranny mount
5. If u get the energy suspension one remember to have the curved part of the tranny mount to the rear of the vehicle and use the extra plate they give you
6. put it all back together

Sidenote

-check crossmember for cracks... common areas are around the bolt areas....
-only thing i had to modify was the center area on the crossmember had to drill it 1/8 inch on one side to get the mounting bolt to fit right.
-I did this in maybe an hour tops..... longest part was getting the car off the ground.. once its off the ground maybe 30 min disassembly and reassembly

sounds easy, but since I DO have the energy suspension mount, isnt it only the outer shell, and i need to drill out the rivets on the old one to get the piece out of there to put on the new one?

ReD95LT1.......... I have no idea what rivets you speak of.......... there are 2 bolts that hold the mount to the trans and one bolt that holds the mount to the crossmember

I installed a Poly-urethayne one after I broke the factory one. Shifts smooth.. Not really and vibration either.

I broke mine by powersliding out of my Wachovia onto a main highway that was going up a hill. All of a sudden I hear BANG. The tranny is banging the floorboard. The mount is easy to replace.

It is easy to to check for a broken tranny mount, if you can get under the car with a flashlight. Also, you would notice a banging under the center console under hard shifts. A minor amount of vibration might indicate that you already have a poly tranny mount installed.
