opti??
can anybody recommend replacements for the actual opti and the cap and rotor i know msd has a cap and rotor but do they have the actual unit im going to replace the entire thing while its out of the car
msd actually has a pro-billet opti now. its a little pricy at around 500 but if you really want it then go for it. i would switch to a coil pack set up. it a whole lot easier to deal with than the opti.
I just did a Delteq and user some Cadillac coils I found on Ebay. I'm in the whole thing for less than $400 because I was able to reuse the Taylor wires I already had in conjunction with reusing the boots from the Cadillac wires. I was also lucky because the coils I got came with the Cadillac mounting bracket and I was able to mount them to the firewall instead of having to ditch the traction control or use the lower radiator mount. I definately recommend the swap, especially if you have had as much trouble with the opti as I have (3 dead, 2 exploded rotors!).
Do a google for Delteq and for LTCC
Two different approaches to a coilpack solution. Neither totally eliminate the opti (still need the optical side for cam position sensor) and both are pricey.
If money is a concern just get a new Genuine GM OEM opti....you could go through 3 of them for the price of the next cheapest solution.
