93 Octane???
It even says "Use premium fuel" on the gas door and in the owners manual.
I am not saying everyone should switch to 87 octane programming just that it WILL work much better than all of you think. With an upcoming heads/cam swap I plan to be over 11:1 static with aluminum heads so I will be switching to higher octane, but if the iron head motor is fine at 10:1 the aluminum heads can run perfectly at their stock 10.4:1 if tuned for it. I am also not claiming the b-body was speced 87 for performance reasons just that performance did not suffer because of it.
Look here at the cam specs for each http://www.automotiverebuilder.com/ar/ar99928.htm much smaller cam, lower compression, lower octane tuning yet still made 260/330 to the f-body 275/325. The b-body has a 3" MAF and while yes it has duals they are very restrictive so it was grandma quiet as was our intake tract so I am sure both are at least as restrictive as the f-body pieces. Boy that 87 octane must really hurt power
. Facts mean little to many of you though
