ok, my girlfriend will soon be buying a '95 TA vert which only has 45,000 miles on and I want to tune it up for the first time. What all do I need?? With my LS1, all I need is a set of plugs and wires, but I have been reading about people replacing the coil as well on the LT1. Is this something one should do...if so, what coil is a good factory replacement?
Also, what plug wires? I want them to be able to fit in the factory wire holders, so those big Thundervolt 10.4's are probably out of the question. Will 8.5mm wires fit in the factory holders? If they do, I was thinking a set of MSD Superconductors, as I am happy with mine. I am probably going with a set of NGK TR55's, just like I run in my car, is there a better plug for the LT1 that you recommend I use instead? WHat gap do I run them at?
The car is completely stock.....
thanks,
Paul

Imagine this...
You see a room full of about 40 wild, feral cats.
Your job is to put them in individual boxes for transportation to the local animal shelter. You work all afternoon, you're completely scratched up, frustrated, and still can't get to that last cat that's hidden way off in the corner.
That's what changing plugs and wires on a LT1 is like.
The factory routing for the wires on the passenger's side is the worst. Forget about using the factory loom on that side. Going under the power steering pump sucks. Just run them behind the bracket (immediately outside the optispark) and you'll be fine. Definitely bring along some good zip ties though, as you don't want the wires going out of control.
Good luck.

you'll make it alot easier on yourself if you drop the Y-pipe. The passenger's side is really easy after you drop that. Without dropping it, it's the hardest tune up I've ever seen. And I'm a mechanic LOL
My hands couldn't fit anywhere near the plugs until I dropped that thing.

thats how I had to do it... It really sucked. I had to do it in my parents dirt driveway. I was soooo mad, and my dad just laughed at me.. If you DO decide to drop the Y-pipe, I strongly suggest you have a new set of header collector bolts on hand. When I did my header swap, the rusty factory bolts were seized onto the manifold/y-pipe so badly that I ended up snapping the heads off of ALL of them while torquing them off. This was even after saturating the crap out of them with PB Blast.
