Default lt1 brake pads

What are the best front brake pad to use(organic, ceramic,or ceramic mix)material on stock calipers with drilled rotors? Are the ebc greens any good even though they are organic? Thanks-

good question, trying to figure all that out myself, been more concerned with going than stopping, but it's just as important to me. I hear Hawk makes a great pad. I've heard mixed stories on Carbon Metallic vs Ceramic, hopefully some brake experts will pipe in here.

I used tirerack's reviews of all the avail. pads etc.(hawk ebc )ceramics and ebc organic but 1/2 the people say they suck 1/2 half say mint for each pad no matter what you are driving so I guess its driver style whetjher you cook em etc. or have good luck.

just replaced my brake pads with EBC Green stuff pads and I'm pretty happy with the results. At first they were pouring out brake dust, but I guess that was for the break in period since its not bad right now. The car does stop a whole lot better and more confidently, but the LT1 brakes are seriously lacking anyway. We will see how these last to my driving style ( I usually end up glazing my brakes cause I really don't brake hard).

Even though I'm not on the stock LT1 braks up front, I'll chime in since this is about pads.

I'm running Hawk HPS pads. They're a little better than stock and they don't seem to create more dust or create any more noise either. They're probably not all that good for use on a roadcourse or auto-x, but they do really well for just everyday driving on the street.

I have Hawk HPS pads on Powerslot rotors, couldn't be happier with the pads, they don't put out much dust and have lasted long enough to warp the rotors.

Carbotech XP8/9/10's are some of the best out there for short stopping distance, but the noise, rotor wear, and dust makes them lousy for a street car. My chrome C6/Z06 wheels look gunmetal gray after a week of minimal driving--or 1 really hard stop (he he).

You'll have no trouble with those drilled rotors. The Green pads won't ever get them hot enough to cause trouble. Sounds like a good street setup, though.

I doubt that, unless theres some thing special about those pads i dont know about but i think with any rotor/pad combo its possible to overheat them, loose all bite, glaze the pads, warp the rotors etc..

I'm refering to normal street use. If you heat those green pads up like they'd get in an AutoX or Road Race, they'd glaze up and loose all grip long before warping the rotors. You'd have to have a deathwish to push them beyond that point. Drilled rotors crack under heavy heat and load--levels well beyond what those pads should ever see in normal street use.

I guess, if you just kept pushing them hard long after they were roasted, well maybe you could crack or warp the rotors. But then, that's like knocking an LT1 engine because it blows after running for 5 minutes at WOT....

Installed the ebc greens and summit cross drilled rotors, beded em in right (200 miles)and saw a slight performance increase over the stockers.Noticed the brakes grabbed much quicker but onced engaged they were about same.(initial bite is much better but rest didnt gain much).look cool though with the holes yay...
