Default Mid Length Headers?

Im not a dummy when it comes to what parts do and how they work.
I know Long Tubes are great for the entire powerband, and shorties are good for high revving engines.

Does anyone here have mids?
How would they affect a Z28 with a SLP CAI & Loudmouth?

How do mids affect the top end?

Well mids are a little better than shorties, but if you want some real power go with LTs.

Mids will do basically the same thing the shorties do, just a little better. Not worth the money imo.

im sooooooo sick of people knocking mids and shortys, if you get 1 3/4 primary mids they will perform very very (1-3 hp)close to LTs and everybody say mids and shortys are a waste but what if some people have to pass emissions cant do it with LTs ...and just cause you add cats you still wont pass the visual, o and what if your car is lowered LTs are not a good option for lowered cars!

Well, I have SLP single-cat headers. 1 3/4" primaries, mid length. They... work. They... fit. They were easy to keep "emissions-legal". The only downside (I've found recently) is that they won't work very well with a larger aftermarket oil pan. For a street-friendly, emissions-friendly setup, they make sense. If you're planning on racing the car, and/or don't need to worry about emissions, definitely go longtubes.

I just installed PaceSetter Mids for my '97 WS6 and I definitely feel a difference! They both fit in nicely wth no problems. The mids are good all-around headers for performance.

If its a track car or your in an area where emissions aren't an issue, long tubes all the way.

I think on a street car where emissions is an issue mid-lengths are a great choice. I personally don't think the amount of extra power gained from long tubes on these cars are worth the hassle of installation.

i dont understand how LTs make more power than Mids when the only difference is that the Mids meet the y-pipe earlier. if you have a good ory they will it even matter in the end? running a full 3 inch system seems like it would make more power actually

Arrow when a turbo appears, most headers will have to go anyway

Pro: my slp lts work great with my setup, you can see them if you look under the car
con: lowered cars should not even consider long tubes, and the price was almost 800 bucks I think

Watch out for Pace Setters, I took them off my car to repair a little head gasket problem, and the collectors are rusting through. I drive the **** out of my car, and I am sure I am not the only one, but I had the shorties on it for only 9 months. I was told they are the low brand. I am looking into a set of LT's, Stainless Steel if I can find them. I plan on running 3" custom Y off of the headers, which will be 3" collectors. It will Y into the cat, and into the Dynomax Bullet that I have dropped infront of the rear axle. I am keeping the cat because it gives the exhaust the base in my setup. We removed it, and it sounded like *** on the street. It was crazy loud. As far as emissions, those of us with 1995's and back, most states don't emissions test them, cause of the OBD1 Computer System. I have the AIR System removed, and plan on getting racing LT's, and blocking off the EGR.

i have installed pacesetter mids on my friends 95 and they fit pretty good but i had to ding the driver side primary that runs near the steering shaft. other than that all clearnaces are good. they didn't make that much of a differance in sound though. he was pissed about that. he gained 17rwhp with there ypip and a random tech cat over the manifolds and gutted cat. i have them on my 96 but i bought the car with them installed. the price of the headers are good, but quality wasn't the greatest. i would just wait out for a better set, or use the money for a good used set. personally i like MAC and SLP but slp's are pricey. hooker are good but are overrated imo
