Default Should i put some money on it??

One of my good friends just bought a 95 T/a and he wants to run them at the dragstrip tonight ....I'm thinking it should be a very close run but what do you think? Should i put some money in there?

Mine- 97 T/a, auto with 2000 stall, B&M electric shift kit, CAI, Flowmaster exhaust, 275/40/17 Kumho Ecsta Supra, 107k miles, 10 more HP stock

His- 95 T/a, 6 speed, TB bypass, magnaflow exhaust, 160 thermostat, 38k miles, 245/55 or 60/16 ??? tires

I'm thinking i should take him off the line with the wider tires and the new higher stall, and if i do i'm not sure that he will be able to hawk me down in the 1/8th...if that happens of course...

What do you guys think???

Flywheel power wise, you have him beat by a CAI. But he's automatically going to be putting more power to the ground with his 6 speed. So you're probably about even on RWHP. Either way, I think it'll be a driver's race. If he's good, I'd leave my money in my pocket.

Opti.... In that case I'm haha. I'm going to get a 160 thermostat on the way home from work and really wish i could find somewhere to get a 1LE elbow for my car today....I've been meaning to get them for a while but havent...and now i have a good reason I don't think auto parts store such as autozone etc carry the 1LE do they?? Any suggestions on where to order one? Also, any estimates on where i might be sitting HP and TQ wise including the 160 thermostat...wheel and/or flywheel??

I'm not seeing those mods making the difference in this race. Put that money on nitrous and beat him by a full second or 2.

You've got about 400 hp at the wheels....I would put about $100 on the race...

I don't think you can find a 160* in town, I looked a while back.

I was kidding about the money, I can't drive worth a dern. I'll still beat you though

I think it's a pretty even match. I think the better driver will win this one.

Make sure to tell us what happens!

And no don't put money on it. Money turns friends into enemies, and a race is a stupid thing to lose a friend over.

Im goin with teh auto. A dual cat car with a cat back, stalled, and kitted with bigger meats. Your saying that your afraid of a box stock single cat car with a cat back and a m6, not to mention that the guy prolly can't launch.

Yea it would be more for pride than anything, def not something we would hate each other forever for...and i doubt we will put money on it anyways....i was using "should i put money on it" as more of an expression like "who do you think will win" But I'm sure one of us will definately share who the winner is and the times, etc.

Are you crazy, 400 HP at the wheels? You would have to go Heads/Cam to get 400HP out of an LT1, with those bolt-ons you would be lucky to push 300-315 RWHP, and with 102k Miles you can expect some loss. I wouldn't put money on it, unless it's like 20 bucks or something just for ***** and giggles. It should be a good race, I would think you should take him, unless he get's a good launch and is a very very good driver. With a 2000 Stall it's almost stock, so he has the advantage being an M6. Good luck, and either way... your both driving F-Bodys .

He's not even making that much with just cai and catback.

But yeah I would go with the stalled auto in this race unless the other guy can really drive. Should be close.

I'm pretty sure he was joking about the 400rwhp. trans97am, you should've gotten a bigger stall, dude, even if it is a DD. 2800, at least.

I was joking about the 400hp. I am the one racing him. We are going to run em Sunday. I should be able to take him if I can just get a decent launch, but we will see...

Gut out EVERYTHING in your car just for that one day. Then you should have him.

Pwned.

I got a 10.19 @ 77.6 w/ 2.788 sixty the first run.

Cut it to a 9.546 @ 78.1 w/ 2.54 sixty the second run.

Just means I have quite a bit to improve on, right?

haha
