The LT1 Ram Air has a more direct intake with a larger surface area for the filter. So, the LT1 is the more efficient one.

They did an experiment with this, I read about it back on f-body.com a while ago. The only time a ram air would give advantage over a traditonal cold air such as K&N, the car would have to be going over 100 mph, to gain somehting like 3hp or smaller. As mentioned earlier, Nascar speeds.

Any difference felt between a Ram Air T/A and a regular T/A with a CAI or even a stock intake was caused by something else, not really much to gain with it. With that said, I really want one, lol, not because of gains, but to me it really cleans up the engine bay, rather then have some tube run along in the corner you have just a straight pipe going to the scoop, and it also scares the ricers Anyone know of alternative ways of getting a WS6 hood intake, like will an LS1 lid work or does some company make another bx, because I hate how all these dam WS6 boxes go for like $200+.

I know its an improvement, but there really isnt going to be that much of a SOTP feel to either, and the difference between the 2 again isnt going to be that much differece, I'd just like to make my hood functional for less then $200, its hard to justify spending that on just an airbox when i could make a CAI, Im going to make another try at the WS6 box but it is a bit more involved

yeah ill have to agree with the few that said ram air is a joke. i would definetly say that a cheap CAI for non ram air t/a's is more efficient than the shitty ram air hood and assembly. for people that have lt1 ram air hoods, take out he plastic honeycomb covers on the outside of the hood. then stick your hand in there and see how horrible of flow the air has to go through to actually GET to your airbox. they designed it liket hat becasue of rain and whatnot getting into your intake.

the 2 most efficient intake setups ..

1. cold air intake setup for stock elbow intakes
2. k&n filter + ram air assembly (those who have the hoods of course) and then do either a SLP cold air induction which gets air from under the airbox, or some people do custom CAI with that airbox by putting custom piping to the lower of their bumper.

well what about just getting a LS1 assembly then i can fit both under the hood im getting i can make it where the linkage to the throttlebody is thats not a problem... is the LS1 ram air better than the LT1 ram air..... stop with the freaking comparisons to a CAI all i want to know is which of those 2 is better... to many people over analyzing stuff that i dont even care about

cool we got some high 30s here in east tx but no snow thank god people here cant drive worth a **** in rain much less snow
ill have to bring my car up there this summer when we go to visit relatives again meet up with some of the locals from my home town see what runs around there

IMO, the LT1 ram air is better than the LS1, more surface area to the filter/box. From what I can tell the LS1 ram air is nothing but the normal box raised up a tad to fit the holes in the ram air hood. My friend fixed his non ram air Trans Am into a ram air one just by raising the airbox up and getting the hood. It works just as good as the one from the factory.
Only benefit I can see from Ram Air is the engine don't work as hard to breathe. The hoods are nice too...at least on LT1 cars, the split in the LS1 kills me.

well the real drawback on the functional hood is the baffles that keep the water out, now if you cut those out (properly) then it helps a lot

Suspension will help any car, stock or not. It's not absolutely necessary with a stock car, but you will still benefit.
