What about just using a normal LS1 lower air box for the ones that are going to use a stock hood, or think they might have trouble with Clearance. You can still use a after market lid to get the look , and take in air from the radiator air channel instead of the front side by the wheel. Just a thought

i dont think you will be able to get it and a lid to fit.
i think the only way you might beable to get it to fit under a factory hood would be to make your own radiator support, keep it flat and have the lit sit as close to it as possiable... still might not work

Yeah forget the stock hood. Besides, you're not gonna have any sort of air inlet there either. Might heatsoak. I ended up fabbing up my own little ram air and I've noticed sometimes that my incoming air temperatures are way up there. However, it's a fair trade cuz my back cylinders burn cleaner now.
